Great Little War Game?
I have to say that I am a fan of turn-based strategy games – a really big fan of turn-based strategy games. Even to this day, I sometimes enjoy playing a nice game of Heroes III, even though the game is quite old and the developer 3DO is dead and gone. But the focus here is not a turn-based strategy game I can play on my PC; the focus here falls on an exceptional turn-based strategy game I can play on my iPhone.
The exceptional turn-based strategy game I am talking about is the Rubicon-developed an appropriately named Great Little War Game. I say “appropriately named” because this is indeed a great little war game.
The goal in this game is the same as in every other war game: you have to defeat the enemy. The fun part is in achieving that goal. You have to control your troops on land, on water and in the air – and the game has plenty of units to offer as well as plenty of terrain types. And you have to think ahead and plan your next move – strategy, not brute force is key here.
The game has several game modes to offer, modes that will satisfy all your turn-based gaming needs. If you want to get a quick fix, you can play in skirmish mode. If you have a bit of time on your hands, you can play in campaign mode and go through the games 20+ levels. And if you want to play against someone else, you can play in multiplayer mode.
There are several versions of the game, versions that will suit all your needs. If all you need is a nice game that doesn’t cost a thing, you can get Great Little War Game Lite. If you want a free game but one that you can play on your iPad, you can get Great Little War Game HD Lite. If you want to experience everything that the game has to offer, you can get the paid version of Great Little War Game. And if you want to experience the game in all its glory on an iPad, you can get Great Little War Game HD. No matter what version you choose, one thing is for sure: you will have tons of fun playing the game.
